Materials in Class 5 are divided into two divisions, each with its own unique hazard class label.
Hazard Class 5 Oxidizers Yellow Label
Oxidizers in Division 5.1, such as hydrogen peroxide, require a yellow label
with flame and "O" symbol at the top and the number 5.1 at the bottom.
Hazard Class 5 Organic Peroxides Yellow/Red Halved Label
Organic peroxides in Division 5.2, such as benzoyl
peroxide and certain additives in epoxy resins, require a 1/2 yellow and 1/2
red label with a flame at the top and the number 5.2 at the bottom. In the
US for ground transport, a modified, older label which is completely yellow
was used until January 1, 2011. |
